Choosing A Web Hosting Provider On A Budget

by Benjamin Hong

If you are currently looking for web hosting, there is no shortage of
companies that are willing to be of service. But because of so many choices
out there, it can be an almost dizzying experience to select the one that
is right for you. This is especially true if you need to find a host that
won't require a part time job to afford it.
When looking for a cheap web host, you must be very careful to read
all the fine print. Often, there will be certain restrictions to be
aware of. One of the most common restrictions is to set a minimum hosting
term in order to receive the discounted price. For example, Hosting
company A is offering hosting for $4.95 a month but requires a 12 month
service agreement.
Others may only offer discounted prices for a limited time after which
time, hosting service will return to regular price. Another tactic may
limit the discounted price to only new customers. These are just a few
of the possible restrictions that can be imposed. It is ultimately up
to the hosting provider on how they will conduct their business.
But it is not just on price restrictions that may be a possible pitfall
for many. It is important remember that these companies are offering
web hosting to make money and not because of the kindness of their heart.
Keeping this in mind, they can't offer cheap hosting without paying
for the costs somehow.
So, often there must be a trade off in what is being offered as part
of the hosting package. Most will limit the amount of customer service
or technical support that is available. Hosting companies can also put
a limit on the resources they will include in the hosting plan. Resources
like disk space and bandwidth.
Now, not all cheap web hosts may imploy these restrictions or any restrictions
at all if they have a higher accounts to price ratio meaning they have
enough accounts that allows them to offer the discount price while still
making a profit. Also, by offering other services like domain registration
and web design, hosting companies can offset the cheap hosting costs
they maybe losing.
As you can see it is possible to find an inexpensive web host but it
is important to be aware of the other possible costs that may not even
be connected to price. Just because a web hosting company is offering
inexpensive web hosting, that doesn't that there isn't a high price
to pay.
